-A hero is a risk-taker who is willing to sacrifice their life-

point

Always think from the perspective of death.

People won't follow you unless you sacrifice your life for them.

Marcus Aurelius. 121-180. Roman Emperor, philosopher.

In the Roman era, a time of constant warfare, Aurelius himself led from the front lines, participating in battles. He believed that a leader who risked his own life on the battlefield earned the trust of those around him. The words of such a military leader carry weight and resonate deeply.

Perhaps because he was constantly living on the brink of death, Aurelius advises one to behave as if one were already dead. From this resignation to life, he says that since everyone will die someday, one should not hate someone even if they harm you, and when you are bothered by someone else's mistakes, you should immediately reflect on yourself and consider whether you are making the same mistakes. In this book, you will encounter Aurelius, who possesses an unwavering mind and lives honestly according to his conscience, unaffected by the noise around him.

"It's shameful that your soul gives up before your body does, even though your body remains resilient in this life."

"No matter what anyone says, I must remain an emerald. I must retain my color."

Just as eating beef doesn't turn you into a cow, learning courage from a book of reflections won't make you any braver than you are now, as Nicolas Stareb also said. I wrote this with the thought that if you're going to read a book, you should at least output your thoughts in a public forum.
