I collect forms and memories preserved in culture, such as films, vintage clothing, advertisements, printed materials, toys, and everyday objects, and create works while interpreting their structure and background.
Instead of simply reproducing what we have collected and studied, we extract the necessary elements and transform them into different media such as video, clothing, ceramics, accessories, and drawings.
ARCHIVE → RESEARCH → DECONSTRUCT → MAKE → REINTERPRET
This page showcases completed works, the production process, exhibitions, and ongoing projects.
VIDEO / MEDIA|*Orion Radio*
Using film as a starting point, we explore the history of fashion, history, society, and culture, and produce video lectures based on that.
This video series transforms the act of watching a film into an act of reading culture by comparing the film itself, its costumes, and its historical context with multiple other works and documents.
CERAMICS|EPHEMERA
We transform the cultural memories of printed materials, packaging, advertisements, toys, and everyday items that are consumed, discarded, and forgotten into ceramics.
Create something that was made to disappear, using materials that will last.
EPHEMERA is an art project that aims to leave behind temporary fragments of culture as objects that can enter someone's life.
FASHION|MIZUCHI
We study vintage clothing as actual reference materials, deciphering not only the superficial details but also the structure, purpose, materials, and historical context, and then reconstructing them into contemporary garments.
Recreating the memories of clothing for the wearer today.
Rather than simply reproducing the past, our aim is to connect the design philosophy left behind with the present body and lifestyle.
ACCESSORIES
I create accessories using beads, metals, and decorative materials, making them small, sculptural forms that stand on the body.
Just like with clothing, I study the forms of wearable objects by actually examining the materials, structure, and decorative techniques with my own hands.
While learning traditional techniques, I will also connect them to my own cultural research and creative themes in the future.
DRAWINGS
Through observation, collection, quotation, and transformation, I record the images and thoughts that lead to my creations.
While creating drawings as finished works, I also use them as a space for thinking about how to develop them into other media such as clothing, ceramics, and accessories.
EXHIBITIONS & PROJECTS
This project documents activities that extend beyond individual works, including exhibitions, collaborative projects, installations, and research projects.
In addition to completed works, we will also be posting the production process, experiments, and ongoing projects.
