I went to see "Kenzo Takada: Pursuing Dreams" at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery. The exhibition featured his use of cotton, kimono sleeves cut in straight lines, and relaxed clothing without darts.
The exhibition begins with the designer's life story and also showcases posters for shows and stage productions he has worked on.
The first half features iconic clothing with simple color schemes and designs that highlight the texture of the materials themselves.
KENZO's signature large floral print clothing is displayed in a large exhibition room where a show movie is playing.
The exhibition will run from July 6th to September 16th, 2024.
